Squarespace or Showit website templates for wedding pros
It’s 2025, websites are an essential part of running most businesses nowadays. They’re your 24-7 sales person. And the home base where most of your potential clients are landing, whether they find you through social media, referrals, or online search.
A polished website can make or break your first impression when it comes to connecting with wedding clients. You have less than a second for users to determine their first impression when they land on your site.
But most of us creative entrepreneurs aren’t web designers—nor are we operating with a 4-5-figure budget for a gorgeous custom website.
So how do you build your own website when you’re short on budget and expertise—not to mention portfolio content—that still packs a punch?
Website templates are essential for time savings, as well as creating a beautiful DIY website.
Squarespace or SHOWIT for your wedding business website?
There are a couple popular options when it comes to choosing a platform to host your website. My honest opinion is that it should be one you’re comfortable using yourself, and allows you to make quick edits.
Showit and Squarespace are arguably the two most popular options in our wedding industry. I’m a big fan of Squarespace, obviously, as a Squarespace affiliate.
While Wix and Canva websites constantly stand out to me as obviously DIY, and for that reason I do not recommend Wix or Canva websites as a long term solution.
With Squarespace’s drag and drop editing and mobile optimization feature, I think it’s the most user friendly option for DIYers to create something unique and professional looking. Plus, Squarespace’s blogging function is built-in. (And we all know blogging is an important piece of your marketing and SEO strategy.) I love it as an all-in-one strategy.
Showit has a reputation for creating beautiful sites, but it has a much more complicated user-interface.
Let me tell you, as someone who has used a number of website platforms over the last 25 years, I find Showit incredibly complicated and confusing. Not to mention, the blogging function for Showit is separate through Wordpress.
I frequently work with clients who aren’t confident editing their Showit site. Making new pages, modifying the mobile view, or even keeping their header consistent across the whole site, are issues that come up frequently.
Don’t be sucked in by beautiful templates that will be difficult to use and adapt. They’re often focused on design and lacking more specific strategy, like word count and conversion copy, that will really function best for you on a day to day basis.
AS OF 2025
Squarespace business plan is about $32 🇨🇦 /$23 🇺🇸 per month when paid annually.
Along with the option of your custom domain and Google Workspace (branded email) free for your first year.
Squarespace is the most cost-effective option, especially for your first year in business, with your custom web address and Google Workspace included free.
If you have the budget to pay upfront annually for Squarespace you’ll save about 28%. While a monthly subscription will cost about $45 CAD or $36 USD, paid monthly.
Showit on the other hand will cost $24 USD billed yearly, or $29 USD monthly, including a basic starter blog. (The blog add-on will increase if you’re planning to migrate your previous blog from Wordpress or Squarespace.) Plus you’ll have to pay another fee elsewhere to manage your email and get a custom website address.
Squarespace TEMPLATES for your wedding business
Starting from scratch when designing your website can be intimidating, not to mention time consuming. My best tip for saving time and aggravation is to start with a website template.
Squarespace has a great selection of templates built in. And these are easily customized with your branding colours, fonts, and images.
But if you’re looking for something special, my fave Squarespace template shop is GoLive has been my fave source for Squarespace templates for years now. As a matter of fact, my current website started out with their Amplify template.
