Social media is the main marketing channel for most wedding planners and wedding pros and for good reason:

It’s easy to set up and use.

It doesn’t cost much money, if any at all.

It’s widely used by your potential couples.

But, despite the major upside of putting your business on these platforms, social media creates one big headache for most wedding planners and pros; specifically, the need to constantly be creating content.

And, let’s be real for a second—you’re a wedding planner because you’re great at design and can create a timeline that is watertight not because you want to spend tons of time dreaming up content ideas to market your business with.

So today, we wanted to take care of that headache and give you lots of content ideas to run with and make your own. Read on for social media ideas for wedding planners that you can incorporate into your overall marketing plan or execute on the fly.

Inspirational Content Ideas

When it comes to low hanging fruit, inspirational content is it. From design ideas to images from your previous weddings, inspiration is one of the best ways to show off a lot about what it takes to be a successful wedding planner—if you approach it a certain way. And these social media ideas will help get you make the most out of this familiar content type.

Video and Idea PinsPinterest is prioritizing video and Idea Pins (read: giving this type of content more impressions) so it is a good use of your time to create them. Whether you share professional photos from a wedding gallery, mix in some behind the scenes photos or repurpose snippets from Reels or TikTok videos, try and get in the habit of creating a few every time you receive a new gallery of photos.

Traditional posts – You’ve very likely shared tons of wedding inspiration on Instagram as a traditional image post with a caption but you can give this type of content more marketing juice when you take the time to write a thoughtful caption. What do we mean? Don’t just write a caption that describes what people can already see in the photo; rather, make sure the caption talks about what the client wanted and how you brought it to life or what the design inspiration was. Generic captions don’t add value to your brand and even inspirational content should show your value and expertise.

Mood boards – Part of the reason you market your business with inspiration and design ideas is to attract couples who want to do things you have yet to do. So don’t be afraid to share mood boards or ideas of things you’d like to design for couples in the future—but you can also pair a mood board from a past wedding with final images to show people how it came to life. These are easy to whip up with Canva templates.

Pro-tip:

Video really is the name of the game these days and almost every platform is prioritizing video content. Think about ways you can start filming some of your own but don’t forget we’ve got lots of Creative stock video clips for you in The Shop.

Wedding Planning Tips

Education is a big part of the marketing and sales process for wedding planners since you have to connect with an entirely new crop of couples year after year. (And we all know too well that these couples don’t know much about what it takes to plan a wedding.) So, when it comes to social media ideas for wedding planners, perhaps the most impactful one you can lean into is educational content that draws from your expertise.

Answer FAQs – Whether you create Reels, TikTok videos, write captions or create graphics, answering your Frequently Asked Questions is a great way to create content that is always relevant. Want to do your future self a favor? Save any FAQ Stories you create to a highlight and create on-brand graphics you can easily reshare again in the future.

Timely or seasonal tips – While there are tons of wedding planning tips that never go out of style, there are lots that are only relevant for certain periods of time. When you are planning your social media content, be sure to incorporate timely, trending or season bits of advice that can help couples understand how on top of everything you are.

Lessons you’ve learned – Being a business owner is a lot of trial and error and we’ve all learned a lesson or two. Whether you call them “lessons learned” or “pro-tips,” you can demonstrate your expertise with captions, Reels, Stories or TikTok videos that share your best advice about things to avoid.

Involve your couples – Sometimes it’s best said by your past client, so think about asking your couples for their best advice for future couples. You can ask them to record a short video or turn their response into a caption—either way, it is a great way to show off your happy couples in a unique and educational way.

Pro-tip:

We just mentioned graphics quite a bit and there are lots of ways you can use them on social media. Get ideas about How to incorporate stock art in to your social media marketing to create more visual interest on your grid.

Market Your Business With Client Reviews

Speaking of your couples, we happen to think that not enough wedding planners market their businesses using client reviews! Think about it—client reviews help build trust, reinforce your expertise, and can sometimes be the thing a potential client needs to read before hitting “inquire.” Use these social media ideas to help you create brand-building content that literally speaks for itself.

  • Turn the short pull quotes from a review into a graphic and share the full review as the caption

  • Create Reels or TikTok videos that include behind the scenes video, photos of the couple and their wedding, and a graphic or video of the couple’s review

  • Create an Instagram Story highlight to extend the life of the Stories you share with reviews

  • Write Facebook posts with the couple’s review and share it with select images from their wedding

  • Create Idea pins on Pinterest that lead with photos from the wedding and end with a graphic that includes a short version of the review

Pro-tip:

If you are saving each of the “slides” of your videos as you create them, you can repurpose them as Idea Pins on Pinterest!

Ideas For Reels Or TikTok Videos

We’ve already mentioned it but video is literally taking over all of the social media platforms. And, as much as it can be a time suck to create video content, even Instagram is prioritizing content that is shared via Reels. So, when it comes to where you can get the most bang for your buck, unfortunately Reels and TikTok are it. To help, here are some ideas of video content you can create and give the algorithms what they want:

  • Break down everything that goes into your wedding day emergency kit and why

  • Do an Instagram vs. reality video to show what really goes into things behind the scenes

  • Create time-lapse videos of you at work, setting up, working with your team, etc.

  • Showcase before and afters of blank venue spaces and the finished reception or ceremony site

  • Create videos for each of your FAQs
