DYDWB Case Study: Solau

I’m so excited to share more case studies and results this year, from Design Your Dream Wedding Business grads.

Meet Sonia!

Sonia found KJ & Co. at the end of 2020, first grabbing all my freebies and the Canva Quick Start course.

Shortly after, she reached out for help to launch her wedding planning business, in hopes of finding self-employment before her first maternity leave ended.

So how did it go?

With the help of private coaching in my signature program, Design Your Dream Wedding Business, Solau Weddings & Events was born.

We had the BEST time connecting over Zoom, amid lock downs and outbreaks, and I even made the trip to visit her first branding shoot. Since then, Sonia’s portfolio has grown and business has flourished.

Sonia went fulltime, not returning to work after her maternity leave ended, and has since welcomed her second baby boy.

All while booking her dream clients and meeting goal after goal!

Here’s some quick stats:

  • Launched in May 2021 and booked a wedding pro’s wedding for that fall, among others

  • Average of 10 weddings each year, booked out by her standards

  • Full planning bookings, including private estate tent weddings

  • Booking dream venues and collaborating with the region’s best

  • Successfully raising prices by 10-35% year over year, depending on the package

  • Average client budgets have grown by 67% since 2022

Results to be proud of, for sure.

Since we first worked together Sonia has stayed on for the KJ Mastermind, and gone on to launch and host her very own chapter of Wed Well Showcase in the Simcoe-Muskoka region.

Her local show is a fabulous second stream of repeat income, allowing her even more flexibility to work from home. And replacing the income of several weddings each year with just one weekend event.

In SONIA’s WORDS:

“I have successfully booked most of my dream venues within my area including Heritage Estate, Up Country Venues, Ivy Ridge and Three Feathers Terrace.

The ongoing support I have received not only from you but the KJ Alumni has given me so much confidence to plan and execute weddings on private property and I am even hitting the city for a winter wedding in 2025 that I am really looking forward to.

Although at times the inconsistency of income is tricky to navigate I haven’t yet felt the pressure to return to a 9-5 job, I’ve truly built something rewarding for me and my family. As my family grows, so does my business in many ways. Having the flexibility to say ‘NO’ and put up boundaries has been the biggest blessing while being a mom.”
