10 Blog Post Ideas For Wedding Planners

I know it’s not everyone’s fave thing to hear but blogging was a BIG part of how I grew my wedding business since 2012 and continues to be an important part of my marketing strategy as a wedding business mentor.

I always repurpose content from the blog across my social media, so I’m not constantly starting from scratch for post ideas and captions. By sharing the content on LinkedIn, and primarily on Pinterest, I’m driving a lot more traffic to my website beyond organic search.

Real talk:

Blogging is still a very important part of your website business marketing strategy in 2024 and beyond.

They’re not dead. Sorry, not sorry. Blogging is here to stay.

Whether you like it or not, blogging is useful for SEO, and showing your expertise to (potential) clients regardless of the size of your portfolio or breadth of your experience.

Newbies in particular will want to take advantage of blogging as a marketing strategy because it’s typically inexpensive to run. Most often a blog is already available within your website platform. (True for Squarespace, however users of ShowIt host their blogs via Wordpress.)

When you feel like you’re lacking in real weddings to share, your blog is how you show that you know what you’re talking about.

Blogging helps to prove your expertise as well as your style.

And even once you have a portfolio filled with beautiful galleries, your blog will continue to be your opportunity to speak directly to your Ideal Client community.

Your blog should NOT be a repeat of your portfolio galleries. Nor should it serve as your portfolio gallery.

Real weddings can live in both areas of your website.

For your wedding portfolio, choose carefully, based on your Ideal Client community and your desired “future portfolio”. While your blog can host a mix of topical and informative posts relevant to your dream clients, and sprinkle in posts highlighting your work if it helps with frequency.

By the way, having two links to share the same portfolio images is helpful for Pinterest strategy. But that’s an important topic for another day.

Let’s get right to it…

You’re here for blog post topic ideas.

Did you know wedding venues are the most commonly searched topic by engaged couples planning their wedding?

So what do we take from that stat from a blogging perspective?

The more you can blog about specific venues you would like to work at, and the region you serve, the more likely those posts might show up for couples searching about those venues.

This is a really easy way to leverage the key words for the venues you would like to be working at, before you even book a client there. Or any clients in your area for that matter.

10 blog post topics to mention venues and your location or service region:

  • # Rehearsal dinner locations in your area

  • # Micro/Intimate wedding venues in your area

  • # Indoor wedding photo locations in your area

  • # Winter wedding venues in your area

  • Top # tips for planning your area wedding

  • Tips for hosting your area wedding

  • Fave engagement photo locations in your area

  • Modern wedding venues in your area

  • Wedding venue tour

  • Waterfront wedding venues in your area

how to implement this strategy

Sprinkle those area-based posts with topical blog posts that are more style-related, like your fave trends each year. Or even mood boards inspired by seasons or what caught your eye on Pinterest and Instagram lately.

Then add a few about wedding planning specific topics like budget, or what trends or traditions to skip.

Just like Instagram, the name of the game is consistency, not a crazy frequency that has you turning out less than your best. Quality over quantity always.

Blogging monthly is a great start in the beginning when you’re short on clients. Then later on you can scale back, or hire out.

My #1 blogging tip:

Remove the date from your posts.

By removing the publication date from your blog page and the individual posts, guests can’t easily tell how frequently you’re posting. So whether you blogged three times last year, or three times last month, they’ll simply see your content.

Happy blogging everyone!

Don’t forget to track your stats and watch your web traffic and Pinterest analytics increase bit by bit.

I’d love to see what you’ve blogged lately! Tag me on Instagram while you’re hard at work following all the tips in my jam-packed blogging guide, or email me your latest post.
